What’s the news from the Minnesota Capitol? As I write this, there really isn’t any. There’s talk of a special session upcoming, behind-closed-doors negotiations ongoing, and House and Senate leaders emerging with smiles that suggest perhaps a bump or two of the good stuff was shared in the chamber confines. (Unless that’s illegal; I don’t know. If it is, maybe it shouldn’t be.)
It’s no surprise to Illinois anglers that channel catfish are one of the state’s most popular species.
But take DNR’s word for it: Maintaining channel cat populations in some lakes can be challenging.
“Channel catfish require some form of a cavity – hollow log, stump, undercut bank, etc. – to successfully spawn and rear their young,” DNR explained in a recent announcement about a habitat project being conducted at three of the state’s lakes.
