ATF, National Shooting Sports Foundation launch campaign against straw purchases of firearms

The object of this joint government-firearms industry effort is to alert people that buying a firearm for a person prohibited from possessing a weapon is itself a serious violation. (File photo)

Lying is never a good thing. But when it comes to trying to skirt firearms purchasing laws it can cost a person hundreds of thousands in fines and up to more than a decade in jail.
To help meet this criminal activity muzzle-on, both the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) and the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) are again emphasizing their “Don’t Lie For The Other Guy” campaign.
