So many options: What to consider when buying a fishing rod

Before giving a prospective new fishing rod the “wiggle test,” look at the information printed on it. Rod length, power, action, and lure weight is important information that one should consider before purchasing a new fishing rod. (Photo by Mike Schoonveld)

Even an experienced angler can walk into a store that sells fishing rods and quickly become baffled.
In a small shop, there may be a couple dozen rods from which to choose. In a large store, there may be a couple hundred. How do you choose which one is right for you?
