A retired professional bass angler originally from Illinois has given in to the urge to compete. It appears the possibility of qualifying for the 2024 Bassmaster Classic pulled Chad Morgenthaler back into a sport he competed in for two decades.
A native of Coulterville in southern Illinois, Morgenthaler was a firefighter in Carbondale before rising to the level of professional fisherman. Morgenthaler “retired” from Bassmaster Elite Series competition after the 2022 season. The veteran of seven Bassmaster Classic appearances thought he had “closed the door.”
