The Mille Lacs Fisheries Advisory Committee met on Monday, Oct. 16, at McQuoid’s Inn, in Isle to receive updates on Lake Mille Lacs fisheries and provide input on upcoming winter regulations.
There was plenty of discussion among committee members and the Minnesota DNR staff to determine the right path for a successful harvest this winter, but also balancing the open-water season in 2024. Eric Jensen, the DNR’s large lake specialist for Mille Lacs, started the meeting with findings from the fall netting and creel survey. He said the population estimates weren’t yet complete, but the staff is hoping to have those findings available in the next few weeks.
