Consider this advice before buying a used boat

Picking up a used boat during the fall and winter can mean a better deal, but come spring there will be more rigs from which to choose because people may have traded in their boats at a dealership or sport show for a new model. (Photo courtesy of Dan Durbin)

Timing the market is something financial advisors rarely recommend, but can an angler make an educated guess at when he or she should time a used boat purchase? How about private or dealer purchases? What models hold their values best?
The answer, according to Alan Bell, co-owner of Cedar Lake Sales, in West Bend, Wis., is that anglers need to consider multiple things before writing a check.
