Adirondack moose collaring research continues in New York

Along with performing aerial surveys to monitor moose cow and calf populations, New York DEC and partners are putting GPS collars on moose to learn more about moose activity and mortality. (Photo by Dan Ladd)

This year, 19 moose were fitted with GPS collars as part of a multi-year project assessing moose health and population. The GPS collars will provide location data and information on moose activity patterns, movements, and mortality. Data collected as part of this research effort will contribute directly to the continued management of moose in New York.
