“Tackle” Terry Tuma suggests using 12- to 18-pound test, attached to a barrel swivel and a monofilament leader of 10 feet. Use a line counter reel to know how far out you caught your last fish and/or to gauge how deep your crankbait is running. Try multiple colors, sizes, and vibration patterns of crankbaits to catch these late-summer and early-fall walleyes.
