As the calendar turns to August, the bite has slowed in some areas and, in others, plenty of fish are being caught. And get the scoop on … trolling rods.
Both species are active in the shallows, and trolling spinners at a quick speed can trigger bites of both species.
You can cover water and fish a bottom bouncer much faster than you can with a traditional live-bait rig. Move until you find fish.
Color doesn’t seem to matter, and neither does the brand of the spinner jig. They all seem to work well. It’s really all about the presentation.
Most people focus on panfish in spring and maybe fall, but it’s fun to extend that season.
Bluegill and bass reports continue to be very good and the majority of larger fish are being found on deep weedlines or deep weed flats.
