Trout fishing on lakes (outside BWCAW) opens

While the opportunities aren’t limited to the three main BWCAW counties of St. Louis, Lake, and Cook, these counties have the majority of trout lakes in the state. And thus far, the lakes in that part of the state have minimal snow on them, making getting around much easier than they can be, save for some slush reported in certain locations.
