DNR continues snowmobile patrols in wake of deadly crashes

This time LMBV was found in smallmouth bass in Beaver Lake (Alpena County) during the investigation of a fish kill and in Avalon Lake (Montmorency County). These latest discoveries indicate the virus is spreading northward in Michigan.
The Minnesota DNR has announced leadership appointments in its Commissioner’s Office. DNR Commissioner Sarah Strommen named current Assistant Commissioner Barb Naramore as deputy DNR commissioner. Since 2013, Naramore has overseen three divisions (Ecological and Water Resources, Forestry, and Lands and Minerals) and worked frequently with other divisions on interdisciplinary efforts. Many expected an announcement today, but still no word from Gov. JB Pritzker’s office on the fate of DNR Director Wayne Rosenthal – or who his ultimate replacement will be. Pritzker, a Democrat, was sworn into office Jan. 14, replacing Republican Bruce Rauner. The strong bet for the DNR job so far is Jerry Costello,

Enforcement action was taken for possession of a small amount of marijuana, operating an ATV on a grant-in-aid snowmobile trail, illegal possession of fillets/immeasurable fish on a special-management water, and failure to maintain carcasses.
