WEST NANTICOKE, Pa. — A Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission officer fatally shot a man after prosecutors say the man assaulted and tried to drown the officer. Authorities say the officer shot the man who was later identified as 37-year-old Sean Bohinski, of Nanticoke, Tuesday afternoon in a wooded area along the Susquehanna River in West Nanticoke.

HOUSTON — A public-private partnership is granting nearly $1.4 million to test treatments to halt a disease threatening the nation’s bat population. The smallmouth bite was slow as well but a couple were caught around Grass Island or in the channels
Hunters achieved a 19 percent success rate during the first two days of the annual nine-day moose season. A year ago, 25 percent of moose hunters were successful during the opening weekend.
