Minnesota bass pro Seth Feider qualifies for Bassmaster Classic

Minnesota Bassmaster Elite Series pro Seth Feider has qualified for the Bassmaster Classic, which is set for March 16-18, 2018, on South Carolina’s Lake Hartwell.

In addition, Feider once again will be among the top Elite pros to fish the Angler of the Year Championship, set for Lake Mille Lacs from Sept. 14-17.

Feider won the latter event in 2016, when it also was held at Mille Lacs, and he’s maintained that momentum through this year’s Elite Series season. He’s ranked 15th out of 110 anglers heading into the championship. Here’s a look at how he’s done it:

  • Fourth place at the Elite event in February at Cherokee Lake.
  • 16th place at the Elite event in April at Toledo Bend.
  • 65th place at the Elite event in May at Sam Rayburn Reservoir.
  • 94th place at the Elite event in June at Lake Dardanelle.
  • 34th place at the Elite event in July at the St. Lawrence River.
  • Second place at the Elite event in July at Lake Champlain.
  • 26th place at the Elite event in August at Lake St. Clair.

Feider has to be among the favorites to win the Angler of the Year Championship event at Lake Mille Lacs. After sneaking into the tournament thanks to a second-place finish on the Mississippi River, Feider dominated last year’s championship on his home waters, beating the runner-up by more than 6 pounds. Feider brought to the scales 15 smallmouth bass that averaged more than 5 pounds apiece.
