Not able to take in everything last weekend at Game Fair? Or maybe you weren’t able to get out to the annual all-things-game-and-more gathering.
No worries – the too-big-for-one-weekend event at Armstrong Ranch Kennels near Anoka continues this weekend, starting up again Friday, Aug. 18 and then concluding Sunday, Aug. 20. Like the first weekend, hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday.
The 80-acre venue of woods and water just outside the Twin Cities is jam-packed with activity, with dozens of vendors and exhibits and game-related activities (non-game, too).
Seminars are ongoing throughout at five sites, with most of them running all six days of Game Fair. A highlight of the seminar schedule is “The Farm Bill and Conservation in MN” – it’s scheduled just once each weekend, again set for 1 p.m. Saturday during Weekend 2 at the Outdoor News seminar tent, with conversation on the all-important Farm Bill and its impact on conservation in the state. For a complete schedule of seminars, go to www.gamefair.com/seminarschedule.html.
As in Weekend 1, Game Fair-goers are encouraged to bring their dogs (leashed) and their guns or bows (cased). There are numerous activities for dogs, everything from dock-jumping to retrieving and timed field contests (for dog registration form, go to www.gamefair.com/dogregistration.html).
Family-oriented events are many, too, with numerous activities for children, including slingshot, air rifle and archery shoots. Go to www.gamefair.com/visitorinfo.html for more information.
