Akron, Ohio – Trapping for river otters has only been legal game in Ohio for a handful of years.
Yet, this pursuit appears to be a popular one among trappers. The DNR Division of Wildlife worked hard on this program for many years before offering the opportunity to trap these critters a few years ago.
To that end, a special drawing will be held to trap beaver and river otter at Zepernick Wildlife Area in Columbiana County, according to the Division of Wildlife.
The drawing will be held on Wednesday, December 21 at 6 p.m. The location of the drawing is at the Zepernick boat ramp on State Route 172 in East Rochester, Ohio. The boat ramp sits .5 miles east of Rochester Road.
All trappers must be present to be drawn and must have a 2016-2017 Ohio Hunting License as well as a current fur taker’s permit. This drawing is for one permit holder and one alternate permit holder.
