Thousand Island Fishing Report – February 19th, 2016
St. Lawrence River: The cold spell didn’t arrive in time to save the St. Lawrence River Walleye Association derby, which was canceled due to poor ice conditions. Things have improved since then, but use caution if you go. Reports of late have been OK for perch, but finding keeper-sized fish is sometimes a challenge. And pike always seem to be around.
Black Lake: Ice conditions have improved since the warmup earlier this month. Bluegill, northern pike, crappie and, for those who know where to find them, walleye.
Chaumont Bay: Ice is there but might be iffy in some spots, although the blast of Arctic air last weekend had to help. Perch and walleyes are available. Check Chaumont Hardware’s website for fishing reports and ice updates.
