Wisconsin turkey hunters may go online Jan. 25 to view drawing results for spring season

The DNR has drawn the 2016 spring turkey hunting permits and hunters will be able to check their customer accounts on the DNR web site for their drawing results on Jan. 25.

Notices to those who will receive permits will go in the mail the week of Jan. 25.

Customer accounts were initially updated Jan. 16, but were suspended the following week.  The DNR says customer accounts showing permits, time periods and zones will be operational by Jan. 25.

The DNR received 134,904 applications for the 240,768 permits that are available for this spring's hunt.

A total of 131,402 of the applicants were successful and will receive permits.

Hunters who did not receive a permit or would like to buy additional permits may buy left-over spring turkey tags beginning on Monday, March 21.

No permits are left for the first two hunting time periods.  However left-over permits are available for the third time period in zones 1, 3 and 4.  Additional permits will be available for time periods 4, 5 and 6.

The left-over permit sales will be: March 21 for Zone 1; March 22 for Zone 2; March 23 for Zone 3; March 24 for Zone 4; and March 25 for Zones 5, 6, and 7.

Sales of left-over permits for all zones will begin Saturday, March 26.  Hunters may purchase one permit per day.

The sales begin at 10 a.m. each day and hunters may call the DNR customer service number at (877) 945-4236, or go online to the DNR web site, or visit a license sales outlet to purchase a left-over permit.

Permits cost Wisconsin residents $10; $15 for non-residents.  Hunters must also have purchased their 2016 turkey hunting license and turkey stamp before buying a left-over permit.
