Southwest Pennsylvania Fishing Report – January 15th, 2016

Monongahela River (Washington County) — Shad Lure Bait & Tackle reported Jan. 1 that nice-size walleyes were hitting at lock 4 near Charleroi and near Maxwell dam until a cold front moved in. The mouths of Ten Mile and Pigeon creeks also were yielding nice walleyes. 

Youghiogheny River Reservoir (Somerset County) — Rainbow and brown trout up to 22 inches were reported through Dec. 31, with eggs and live bait productive. Terrestrial dry flies also were working in mild temperatures. A cold front moved in Jan. 1. One angler released a large northern pike near the old Route 40 Bridge.

Laurel Hill, White’s, Wills creeks (Somerset County) — Recent rainfall and mild temperatures spurred trout fishing on all three streams, although angling pressure was light.
