Southern Lower Peninsula Fishing Report – November 20th, 2015
Lake St. Clair
High winds late last week kept anglers off Lake St. Clair. Prior to the winds blowing through, anglers reported catching good numbers of perch in the canals and local marinas. Waterfowl hunting has been fair. Deer hunting has been pretty good in St. Clair and northern Macomb counties. The rut is on. Crops are down.

Deer hunting has been good in Oakland County. Bucks were still chasing does last week, and hunters reported seeing good numbers of deer. Most of the crops are down. Fishing pressure has been very light on inland lakes. Bass fishing has been decent on Orchard and Cass lakes.

Bluegills are hitting on Gilead Lake, but fishing pressure has been very light. Archery deer hunting was slow. The action should improve for the firearms season once the weather cools a bit. Bucks are on the move and chasing does. Crops are coming down.

Fishing pressure has been light around Kalamazoo. For those getting out, bluegill fishermen were doing well on several inland lakes last week. Asylum Lake, Portage Lake, Gourdneck Lake, Hogsett Lake, and Scott Lake are all reporting some good ‘gill action. Spikes, wax worms, and red worms were all catching fish. Northern pike were being caught on Gull and Gun lakes. Deer hunting has been pretty good and should improve with cooler weather. Bucks are chasing does.

Saginaw Bay Area
Deer hunting has been good in Saginaw, Bay, and Arenac counties, weather permitting. Bucks are on the move and crops are down so gun season should be good. Perch fishing has been good on Lake Huron’s Saginaw Bay. Anglers report catching a few walleyes and catfish, too.

Fishing was slowing down on Lake Michigan last week. A fair number of steelhead were being caught along the shore and off the piers. Deer hunting has been slow, but bucks are chasing does. The firearms season should be decent.

The rut is on and there are lots of nice bucks in the area. Crops are down. Waterfowl hunting has been good. Flight birds were starting to arrive from the north last week. Walleyes and burbot were hitting in Lake Huron off the breakwall in Caseville.

Bucks are hounding does, and whitetail hunting has been good around Port Huron. Waterfowl hunting was good last week after the weather turned sour. Walleyes were hitting jigs early in the mornings just above the Bluewater Bridge on Lake Huron. Fishing has been fantastic.
