Northern Lower Peninsula Fishing Report – November 20th, 2015


East Jordan Area

Deer hunting has been pretty good in Charlevoix County. Some nice bucks have been taken in the area. Bucks are still chasing does. Fishing pressure has been light on Lake Charlevoix. A few steelhead have been caught along the pier in Charlevoix.

Traverse City Area

Deer hunting has been pretty good in Grand Traverse County with several nice bucks being shot. The rut is on, and crops are down. Waterfowl hunting has been slow. Steelhead fishing has been good in Lake Michigan. Anglers trolling spoons and crankbaits in the top 10 feet over 100 feet of water report a good bite.

Cadillac Area

Walleye fishing has been good on Lake Cadillac and Lake Mitchell. The best action has been at night on crankbaits or minnows fished under bobbers. Crappies and perch were hitting from shore and off docks at the east end of Lake Cadillac. Deer hunting has been slow in Wexford County, but hunters report seeing more big bucks than in the past. Bucks are chasing does.

Houghton Lake Area

Fishing pressure has been light, but shore anglers are starting to catch walleyes and pike after dark on Houghton Lake. Deer hunting has been pretty good. Bucks are following does and there are more deer in the area than in the recent past. Waterfowl hunting has been decent. Flight birds were starting to arrive last week.

Alpena Area

Whitefish are starting to bite on Lake Huron. Anglers report a decent bite at the mouth of the Thunder Bay River. Deer hunting has been pretty good with lots of big bucks being seen. Bucks are chasing does. Waterfowl hunting has been fair. Flights are arriving.
