A few anglers have been hitting the east of Hudson reservoirs, but not enough to get a solid report of what’s happening. Bowhunters are taking their last stands before the Southern Zone firearms opener Nov. 21

Some good bucks continue to be reported from bowhunters as rutting activity kicks in. Not a lot of fishing going on right now, and it will stay that way until ice fishing season arrives

With deer season in full swing, there’s not much fishing going on and won’t be until safe ice. Deer hunters at last check were still awaiting the first stick-around snow of the season.

Cayuga Lake: Some lake trout were still being taken by anglers trolling and vertical jigging. Trolling 80 to 110 feet down in 100 to 150 feet of water, with spoons or flasher and flies was working, as was vertical jigging with plastics or spoons in 110 feet of water. Lake Ontario: Maxwell Creek has started to have a little activity with salmon, steelhead and brown trout moving in. Oneida Lake: The walleye bite continued to improve for shore anglers fishing just before and after sunset. Stick baits, blade baits and shad-shaped crankbaits are working. Oswego River: Anglers were still getting salmon in the river.

Lake Ontario and tributaries: Rain late last month triggered some salmon and trout to move into the tributaries. It made a difference in places like Burt Dam and Eighteen Mile Creek; Twelve Mile Creek in Wilson; and smaller streams like Four Mile and Keg.
