Thousand Island Fishing Report – October 16th, 2015

St. Lawrence River: This is the time of year when muskie fishing typically heats up, and we’ve already had a report of a 50-incher boated and several other fish landed. Pike fishing has been solid of late, too.

Black Lake: Richard at Chapman’s Sport Shop and Marina in Hammond reports fishing has been heating up for bluegill and crappie and is likely to stay strong for the next several weeks. The bluegill are shallow but the crappie can be found anywhere from 3 to 25 feet. A few northerns have been taken, typically encountered while fishing for bass. Not hearing much on the walleye. While the deer and bear seasons are open, reports are limited but should pick up when muzzleloader season opens Oct. 17. Waterfowling was hit and miss.
