Metro Area Fishing Report -September 18th, 2015


A jig and fathead minnow is producing walleyes and sauger on the St. Croix River south of Afton and sucker minnows continue to turn numbers of bass at Demontreville Lake. Panfish action has slowed, Lake Phalen is a safe bet for pike in less than 12 feet, and muskies are chasing bucktails on the weedlines of White Bear Lake and Bald Eagle Lake.

Bass are hitting jigs and plastics on the 10- to 14-foot weedlines of Pillsbury Reef and Cemetery Reef or on the shallow reed edges in Wagener’s Bay. Muskies have started turning on, hitting topwater baits on the reefs such as Reinkie’s, Center, North, and Pillsbury. Walleye action is slow, but panfish can be had in 14 feet on North Reef and around Nelson’s Island.
