CPO, other DNR layoffs loom as unions get notice

More than 100 DNR employees will be laid off by Sept. 30, according to notices that were sent by the governor's office to public employee unions. Statewide, the number of layoffs has been estimated at about 170.

Many of the DNR employees work for the Illinois State Museum, which has been slated for closure due to the ongoing budget crisis.

But about 30 CPOs are on the list, along with nine employees at the World Shooting and Recreation Complex in Sparta.

Illinois Outdoor News is making an effort to get the list of CPOs to be laid off. It is known that 13 of them are recent graduates of the training academy.

Stay tuned.
