Ohio River Region Fishing Report – June 19th, 2015

Meldahl Dam (Clermont County) – Channel catfish are being taken in good numbers all along the river. Try chicken livers, shrimp, or nightcrawlers fished on the bottom.

R.C Byrd (Gallia County) – Anglers looking for catfish should see continued success this week.  Popular baits in the past have included white twister tails and grubs, bucktails, nightcrawlers, minnows, and cut bait. Hybrid striped bass may still be caught, but success will start to slow. Try using plastic shad, shadrap, or flukes. Sauger may also be caught downstream of the dam; try using white or chartreuse twister tails and grubs.

Racine Pool Area (Meigs County) – Black bass can be caught throughout the Racine Pool on spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and plastics. Try topwater baits in shallow areas and plastics and/or crankbaits fished slowly in some of the deeper pools. Catfish can be caught along the shore with cut bait, nightcrawlers, and minnows fished off the bottom.

Adams County – Flathead catfish anglers have had success fishing from the Rome Village boat ramp and fishing access area. Try casting bluegills, shrimp, chicken liver, or nightcrawlers on the bottom of the river in late afternoon and evening hours.
