Several waters, including areas of Lake Champlain and Schroon Lake, had safe ice as of last week. But conditions were changing rapidly, as they always do this time of year, and few anglers were out so it was tough to get a read on the fishing. Use extreme caution if you go. Trout anglers were playing the waiting game before taking to the area’s ice-choked streams.
