Ohio ice angler joins national team

Grove City, Ohio — Scott Albrecht, of Grove City in central Ohio, is an avid ice fisherman who travels across the country each winter to share his love for the sport of ice fishing.

On Feb. 27 and Feb. 28, Albrecht tried out for the 2016 USA Ice Team in Rhinelander, Wisc., and made the team as a spotter. He is the first USA Ice Team member to represent the State of Ohio.

The 2016 Team will be traveling to either Poland or Latvia to compete in the World Ice Fishing Championships. The WIFC is a semi-Olympic event that 13 to 14 countries send a team to each year. USA has been consistently sending teams since 2009 and won Gold in 2010 in Rhinelander, Wisc.
