Highpoint Lake (Somerset County) — This impoundment high atop a mountain was yielding chain pickerel, northern pike, and largemouth bass through the ice through late February. Perch and crappies also were reported, with the better number of crappies hitting after dark and well into the early morning.
Youghiogheny River Reservoir (Somerset County) — Mixed numbers of yellow perch and walleyes up to 8 pounds were reported by ice anglers through late February. All came on tip-ups with shiners.
Laurel Hill Lake (Somerset County) — Crappies and trout were being iced in February.
Lake Somerset (Somerset County) — Ice anglers reported bluegills and big crappies and a few legal-size walleyes in February.
Twin Lakes, Keystone Lake (Westmoreland County) — Nice numbers of trout were hitting through the ice through late February, particularly for anglers willing to move around the lakes. Live minnows and shiners fished just off the bottom in various depths were the tickets.
