Southwest Ohio FIshing Report – March 13th, 2015

Kiser Lake (Champaign County) – There is up to 12 inches of solid ice on this Champaign County lake, according to angler reports, with two to three inches of snow on top. Anglers are catching bluegills, perch, and crappies. Also, some channel catfish are being caught near the dam. Crappies are measuring an average of about eight inches. Anglers report a spotty bite on panfish, so be prepared to keep moving to get on the fish.

CJ Brown Reservoir (Clark County) – The safest spot to try your luck fishing through the ice is near the marina, anglers are reporting. Ice thickness varies on other parts of the lake. Anglers are reporting up to 12 inches of ice in places and six in other spots. Be careful. Always fish in pairs. Successful anglers are catching a few walleyes, according to reports. Try small spoons like Swedish Pimples tipped with a minnow. A jig and minnow combination should entice panfish to bite, too.
