Are you ice fishing to your full potential? Odd question I guess, but think about it for a minute.
We are all familiar with all the new and the old gadgets out on the market to make our life on the ice much better, but have you actually taken time to think about the different items and what they can do to make you a better fisherman? One of these items is the development of alternative metals for jigs.
This really isn't necessarily a new item, but but it is one that has taken off in popularity among the ice fishing world. The introduction of tungsten jigs to the market has changed the way I fish and if you take a minute or two it can certainly change the way you fish as well.
Being heavier and denser than lead these tungsten jigs get down to the fish quicker, punch through weeds and show up much better on your flasher screens. The action is great and the feel you have between the bait and your rod is increased due to the density of the jig.
They are a bit more expensive than your standard lead jigs, but once you have given them a shot I am sure that you will not be disappointed.
Lead is not going away anytime soon, but with the introduction of tungsten jigs it certainly is being given a run for its money.
