Northeast Ohio Fishing Report – January 30th, 2015

Mosquito Lake (Trumbull County) – Anglers are reporting up to six inches of good ice on Mosquito, according to local angler Mike Mainhart. During times when ice becomes thin, anglers are drilling holes around the lake’s docks and catching yellow perch. Through the ice, anglers are piling up crappies and bluegills. Successful anglers are using straight minnows on a hook or jig and minnow combinations. Fishing pressure has been heavy on Mosquito.

Atwood Lake (Tuscarawas, Carroll counties) – Anglers are reporting four to five inches of good ice on Atwood. The popular fishing spot has been the point directly across from the lodge. Anglers are catching big numbers of crappies on jig and minnow combinations.

Charles Mill Lake (Richland, Ashland counties) – Ice anglers fishing in shallower water have had success catching bluegills. Look for areas of the lake with four to five feet of water. Those who have been fishing deeper waters are catching a few yellow perch, reports indicate.

Nimisila Lake (Summit County) – Anglers are reporting up to six inches of good ice on this Portage Lakes venue. Fishermen are catching good numbers of crappies and bluegills on jig and minnow combos as well as jigs tipped with waxworms
