Northeast Minnesota Fishing Report – December 5th, 2014

DULUTH AREA

The ice is in good shape with 10 to 12 inches reported on most lakes. Walleyes are hitting shiner minnows at Boulder Lake during the evening hours in 8 to 10 feet and Rice Lake in 6 feet. On Island Lake, walleyes are biting in 12 to 15 feet and the narrows of Fish Lake are producing crappies over 15 feet. 

GRAND MARAIS AREA

Most lakes have 4 to 8 inches of ice, but watch the big lakes where thinner ice exists. Walleyes have been hitting at Elbow Lake in 4 to 6 feet, Cascade Lake in 10 to 12 feet, and Lake Binigami in 8 to 12 feet. On Devil Track Lake, walleyes are in 8 to 14 feet.
