Outdoor News, Bast-Durbin Partnership Marks 20 Years Strong
November 4, 2014

In 1994, Outdoor News, Inc. added a Wisconsin edition to its publishing portfolio, and in October of that year, Jeff Bast came on board as an account executive. Dan Durbin joined the effort on behalf of Wisconsin Outdoor News two years later, and in 1998, the pair launched Bast-Durbin as an independent entity. Their efforts in supporting the Outdoor News brand, circulation, and business-relationship development has helped grow Wisconsin Outdoor News into the premier outdoor publication in the state.
Since that time, Outdoor News, Inc. has expanded publications to include bi-weekly titles in Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania and New York, while Bast-Durbin & Associates has become a recognized name in the representation of many quality outdoor brands.
Jeff Bast reflected on the relationship that now spans two decades. “It’s been a privilege to be connected to one of the strongest media brands in the outdoor industry for the past 20 years. The Outdoor News family of publications is a perfect example of what quality outdoor print titles can and should be. It’s been a pleasure to assist in the growth of Outdoor News. It’s been a great 20 years. Time flies when you’re having fun,” he said.
Bast-Durbin & Associates is a full-service advertising agency located in Slinger, Wis., and now has two additional employees, Chris Jennings and Kristen Monroe. The firm is focused exclusively on the outdoor industry, managing all marketing components of the businesses it serves, including planning, media relations, photography and creative design.
