Walleye fishing has been fair in Raber Bay, but rainy weather has kept fishing pressure to a minimum. Goose hunting has been spotty, and the early archery season has been slow to get started. Grouse and woodcock numbers are in decent shape, but hunting pressure has been light.

Drummond Island Area
Fishing pressure has been light on Drummond Island. Perch fishing has been slow, but pike fishing has been good in Scott’s and Maxton bays. Grouse hunting and woodcock hunting have been good, but thick foliage has kept hunting pressure to a minimum. Early archery season has been pretty good, and waterfowl hunting has been very good, but there has been no sign of flight ducks yet.

Good numbers of trout and salmon are being caught in Lake Superior’s Marquette Harbor. Spoons trolled in 60 to 80 feet of water have produced good results. Grouse hunting and woodcock hunting have been decent and the leaves are falling, so action should improve. The archery deer season is off to a fair start. Deer numbers are down in Marquette County. Waterfowl hunting has been good.

Walleye fishing has been good in Lake Michigan’s Little Bay de Noc. Nightcrawler harnesses and crankbaits are both producing good results when fished in 12 to 25 feet of water, especially at the second and third reefs. Pike fishing has been good in the harbors and around the river mouths. Archery deer hunting has been slow, but waterfowl hunting has been good. Leaves are falling, and grouse and woodcock hunting should improve.

Iron Mountain Area
Muskie fishing has been pretty good on Lake Emily, but fishing pressure has been light. Archery season is off to a slow start. Grouse hunting and woodcock hunting have been pretty good, and leaves are finally starting to fall. Waterfowl hunting pressure has been light, but there are good numbers of ducks and geese in the area. Bear hunting has been decent, but action is winding down.

Lake Gogebic fall fishing has been great. Shore anglers are catching good numbers of walleyes during low-light periods. Minnows fished along the weeds in 9 to 11 feet of water have produced good results. Smallmouth action also has been good. Grouse and woodcock hunting have been great and will get better now that the leaves are falling. Archery deer season has been slow to get started. Young bucks are starting to chase does, but deer numbers are down in Gogebic County.
