St. Lawrence River: Smallmouth action has picked up as the fish begin their feeding frenzy ahead of the winter. Not hearing anything on the muskie front of late, but that will change as cooler weather sets in. Black Lake: Hunting seasons have opened, but some anglers remained on the water for outstanding bluegill and smallmouth

 Not hearing a lot from anglers, but some hunters took advantage of the early bear season opener this year to connect on bruins, including a 475-pounder taken by 15-year-old Cossimo Luppino of Staten Island. He was hunting in Sullivan County.

Not hearing a lot on the fishing front with hunting seasons kicking in, but some good fishing is available for bass and lake trout on Lake George; largemouths and walleye on Saratoga Lake, and some fall trout stream (Battenkill, Mettawee) options amid the spectacular foliage.

The fluke season went out with a bang as the fishing improved with the cooling of the inshore waters.  The inshore water temperature along the South Shore dropped approximately 10 degrees.
