Ohio River — Catfish were very active in late August, with flatheads up to 41 inches and weighing 34-plus pounds reported on cut shad and other traditional baits. Smallmouth bass and freshwater drum also were reported.
Deer Lakes (Allegheny County) — Panfishing was productive, with bluegills hitting redworms and wax worms.
Allegheny River (Allegheny County) — The mouth of Deer Creek was yielding catfish and carp in recent weeks. Walleyes, including many in small sizes, were biting elsewhere on the river.
