Ohio River Region Fishing Report – April 25th, 2014

Belleville Pool (Athens, Meigs, and Washington counties) – Crappie: Fish are moving this time of year and provide a great opportunity for river anglers. Just like the inland lakes, target areas around brush tops and sunken logs using jigs or minnows.

Belleville Dam Tailwater Area (Meigs County) – Sauger: These popular fish can be caught in the tailwater. White, gray, and chartreuse twister tails fished off the bottom tend to be popular with many anglers. Hybrid striped bass: Try fishing minnows, crankbaits, or twister tails in white, gray, or chartreuse. Crappie: Try fishing the Ohio side (lock chamber side) of the tailwater. Slack or slow-moving water will hold feeding fish.
