Northern Minnesota emergency deer feeding begins today

The Minnesota Deer Hunters Association has added more detail to when and where deer feed will be available this week and early next:

• Thursday, March 6: Widdes Feeds in Esko, from 8 a.m. to noon; Moose Lake Co-op in Moose Lake, from 1 to 5 p.m.
• Friday, March 7: Hibbing Feed & Seed, from 1 to 5 p.m.; Itasca County Farm Service in Grand Rapids, from 1 to 5 p.m.
• Saturday, March 8: Up North Builders in International Falls, from 9 to 11:30 a.m.; Homestead Mills in Cook, from 1 to 3:30 p.m.
• Monday, March 10: Farmers Co-op Feed Mill in Wright, from 8 a.m. to noon; New London Warehouse in Virginia, from 1 to 5 p.m.

From the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association:

“To receive feed you must have a known feeding area on PUBLIC LAND, and know approximately how many deer are on that area.  We will get all needed documentation at the time of distribution.

“You DO NOT need to be a member of MDHA to receive feed (but we would love to have you join us!)

“We will have only ½ of a semi load available at each distribution location for the first week, so we will be giving out feed conservatively to try to reach as many locations as possible.

“Deer feed will only be available from us during the posted distribution days and times, as specific documentation needs to be collected and provided to the DNR for reimbursement of the funds.”
