Ice fishing is in full swing throughout the region, and unless heavy snows create sloppy conditions anglers should have a lengthy season on the hard water. Lake Champlain was yielding plenty of perch, but many on the small side, with action slow in many areas as of last week. Schroon Lake was a great option, with lake trout offering up good action. Some landlocked salmon and smelt were also being taken, along with plenty of small perch and few keepers.Chazy Lake and the Chateaugay Lakes were also locked up; action on Brant Lake to the south was described as slow.
