You’ll find at least 10 inches of ice on area lakes. French Lake is producing walleyes and crappies in 22 to 24 feet, while Cedar Lake is giving up crappies and northern pike in 18 to 20 feet. Look to Hunt Lake for crappies in 20 to 22 feet and to Lake Mazaska for suspended crappies over 24 feet.

Lake Pepin has about seven inches of ice and anglers are pulling crappies out of 15 to 20 feet. The Baypoint area of the Mississippi River has produced a few walleyes early and late in the day. A handful of anglers has been on the backwater areas of the river, but fishing has been slow.

Ice conditions are good with nine to 12 inches on area lakes. Walleyes are hitting in 20 to 30 feet at Green Lake and in 15 feet on Eagle Lake. Diamond Lake is producing walleyes and crappies in 15 feet and you’ll pull walleyes from less than 10 feet at lakes Elizabeth, Big Kandi, and Minetoga. Walleyes and crappies can be had in 12 to 15 feet at Willmar/Foot Lake or in less than 10 feet at Ringo Lake. Hit Lake Andrew and Florida Lake for walleyes and northern pike in 15 to 20 feet and the western basin on Norway Lake is kicking out walleyes as well.
