DULUTH AREA
There hasn’t been a lot of people fishing, but those that are hitting Island Lake are catching walleyes in 12 to 15 feet and crappies over 25 to 30 feet. Duck and grouse hunting reports have been limited and archery hunters continue to shoot mostly antlerless deer.

GRAND MARAIS AREA
With the exception of a few people fishing from shore, most anglers seem to have put away their gear for the season. With the firearms deer opener this weekend, most have been focusing on it. Hunters are seeing more antlerless deer than bucks and archery success has been limited. Grouse hunting continues to be OK, although most birds shot have been young.

LAKE KABETOGAMA
Fishing reports have been limited, but a jig and minnow is producing walleyes, perch, northern pike, and sauger for a few anglers that haven’t given up on the open-water season. The majority of fish are coming from 15 to 30 feet with some of the bigger pike coming from less than 15 feet during midday hours.
