Lehigh River (Lehigh, Northampton, Carbon counties) — Smallmouth bass were becoming active in the cooler water of late September and hitting rubber worms, or live bait, such as medium shiners and crawlers. Trout also were biting.
Beltsville Lake (Carbon County) — A good striped bass was reported as of Sept. 29. A kayaker caught four stripers from 20 up to 29 inches on soft plastic minnow patterns.
Mauch Chunk Lake (Carbon County) — Fishing remained excellent for largemouth bass, pickerel, perch, crappies and big catfish, with medium shiners or rubber worms productive.
White Deer Lake (Pike County) — Crappies and bluegills were being caught on jigs and small fathead minnows.
Lake Wallenpaupack (Pike County) — Large shiners, rubber worms and spinnerbaits were taking bluegills, bass and perch.
