Northeast Minnesota Fishing Report – August 9th, 2013

DULUTH AREA

Walleyes are being taken with leeches and crawlers at Boulder Lake in 12 to 15 feet and at Island Lake in 16 to 20 feet. Island continues to produce smallmouth bass, while Rice Lake and Fish Lake are giving up bluegills in less than seven feet. Throw topwater baits during low-light periods for muskies at Island and the St. Louis River. On Lake Superior, salmon and lake trout are biting best north of Duluth in the top 50 to 75 feet of the water column.
