Northeast Pennsylvania Fishing Report – July 5th, 2013

Lehigh River (Carbon County) — Bowmanstown pool was yielding trout through mid-June, and numbers of catfish were reported at Phiffer Dam in a recent contest.

Beltzville Lake (Carbon County) — Bass action was a little slow at the start of the season, and boat traffic was increasing in mid-June.

Mauch Chunk Lake (Carbon County) — Bass action was better here than at Beltzville at the start of the season. A cicada hatch at the state park provided some anglers with bait. Crappie action slowed somewhat midmonth, although anglers using jigs tipped with minnows were successful. Walleyes were reported in the upper part of Pohopoco Bay, with crawlers the ticket. Pine Run Cover near the Pohopoco Road Bridge was yielding panfish.

Lackawanna Lake (Lackawanna County) — Good trout fishing continued through early to mid-June, with pastebaits productive near the swimming pool area.

Susquehanna River (Wyoming County) — Bass and catfish were reported in the slightly high water of mid-June.
