Northwest Minnesota Fishing Report – June 28th, 2013


Crappies are hitting in the cabbage weeds of lakes Darling, Le Homme Dieu, Carlos, Ida, and Mary. Look for walleyes on these lakes as well, and most are hitting crawlers or leeches in 12 to 18 feet. Lake Reno continues to give up walleyes in 12 to 16 feet via slip bobbers and leeches or spinners and crawlers. Bass and sunfish are along the shorelines of most lakes and muskies are being caught on Miltona along the shallow weed edges.

Walleyes are hitting jigs tipped with leeches or minnows on West Battle Lake, Otter Tail Lake, Walker Lake, and Silver Lake in 11 to 15 feet. Look for bluegills in five to eight feet on Clitherall Lake, South Turtle Lake, and West Battle. Bass are being found around the docks and shorelines on all lakes, while northern pike continue to hit minnows in 12 to 18 feet on Otter Tail, West Battle, and North Turtle Lake.

Walleyes are hitting crawlers on Long Lake during low-light periods in nine to 12 or 16 to 18 feet during the day. On Fish Hook Lake and Big Sand Lake, minnows and crawlers are producing walleyes in 18 feet. The Crow Wing Chain is giving up pike in nine to 14 feet and bluegills on the shorelines. Hit Potato Lake for smallmouth bass in 16 feet and the shorelines of other lakes for largemouth bass.
