Capital District Fishing Report – May 31st, 2013

Trout anglers were taking advantage of freshly stocked waters last week, and that will likely continue until the regular-season bass kickoff next month. The Battenkill, Mettawee and Kayderosseras are good bets. On Saratoga Lake, Tim Blodgett of Saratoga Tackle (www.saratogatackle.com) reports a good crappie and bluegill bite still going. They’ve been hitting on fathead minnows and small plastics. Bass and pickerel have been very active as well, responding to rattle baits and jerkbaits. Some bass were starting to bed. A few large pike have been caught.
