East Jordan Area

Fishing has been slow on Lake Charlevoix. Changing weather patterns seem to have the fish scattered. The docks are finally in at all the launches. A few walleyes have been caught on Six Mile Lake and in the Elk River at Elk Rapids. Good numbers of steelhead also are being caught. The late turkey season has been fair, and mushroom hunting has been spotty, although some white morels are popping.

Walleye fishing has been good on Black Lake, but cold, windy weather put a damper on things last week. When the bite was on, stickbaits were producing the best results. Brook trout fishing has been pretty good on the Black River, where the water level is still high. The late turkey season has been fair, but hunting pressure has been light. White morels are popping.
Parrott’s Outpost, (989) 733-2472.

Alpena Area

Walleye fishing has been pretty good in the Thunder Bay River, and a few steelhead are still being caught at the Ninth Street Dam. Cold weather has kept fishing pressure to a minimum, but those heading out report a fair walleye bite in Lake Huron’s Thunder Bay. Turkey hunting has been slow, and a few morels are being found.
