Fishing tournament for a great cause: the St. Jude Bass Classic

Tony PetersonAlthough I typically write about hunting in this blog, I’m going to make an exception for this entry. My fishing partner, Adam Hermsen, and I are busy raising money for the Dick Hiley/St. Jude Bass Classic, and if there is a more generous demographic than hunters and fishermen, I’ve yet to find it. Adam and I have witnessed this firsthand from year to year as we’ve asked for donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which is a cutting-edge institution waging daily wars agains childhood cancer and other diseases.

The author and his fishing partner are raising money for the Dick Hiley/St. Jude Bass Classic. All of the money donated goes to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which treats patients for free and fights a daily battle against childhood cancer and other diseases. There are many good charities out there, but in my humble opinion this is one of the best for a couple of reasons. The first is, of course, their continued effort to treat and cure childhood cancer, which afflicts the most innocent of all of us. The second is that when a child is admitted to St. Jude, their family does not pay for a single thing. It’s all covered by the hospital, which functions largely off of public donations. Thus we’ve come full-circle to the point of this blog entry, which is to offer up the chance for any readers to contribute.
