Southwest Pennsylvania Fishing Report – March 15th, 2013

Monongahela, Ohio rivers

The bite was slow for the handful of anglers targeting walleyes through March 2, with cold, snowy weather putting the kibosh on fishing pressure.

High Point Lake (Somerset County)

Fishable ice was still reported as of Feb. 28, with anglers catching northern pike, chain pickerel and bass. Numbers of crappies were reported, along with yellow perch and small bluegills.

Glendale Lake (Cambria County)

Yields of northern pike up to 10 pounds, and perch and crappies were reported in recent weeks. One angler caught a nice 33-inch pike on a creek chub.

Lake Rowena, Duman Dam (Cambria County)

Limits of trout were reported through late February.

Twin lakes 1 and 2 (West­moreland County)

Perch and crappies were being iced through last ice in late February. Nice numbers of brown trout also were reported.

Loyalhanna Lake (Westmoreland County)

Trout up to 14 inches reported catching a nice tiger trout in the 14-inch range.
