Northeast Minnesota Fishing Report – March 8th, 2013

DULUTH AREA

A few anglers have started hooking Kamloops at the mouth of the French River on Looper Bugs and waxies. Fish Lake is producing sunfish and crappies in six to 14 feet and Caribou Lake is giving up sunfish in eight to 10 feet. Grand Lake continues to produce crappies during low-light periods in 15 feet on glow jigs and minnows.

GRAND MARAIS AREA

Spoons, airplane jigs, and ciscoes are triggering lake trout at Clearwater Lake 25 to 45 feet down, over 50 to 60 feet at Lake Saganaga, 35 to 50 feet at Duncan Lake, 40 to 50 feet at Trout Lake, and 30 to 50 feet at Greenwood Lake. Waxworms and small jigs are turning rainbow trout in 15 to 25 feet at Trout and 25 to 35 feet at Leo Lake. Splake will hit waxies in 12 to 15 feet at Mink Lake.

PINE CITY AREA

Crappies and sunfish are hitting on Lake Pokegama in 18 to 22 feet and the southeast side of Knife Lake is giving up crappies over 11 feet. You’ll also find suspended crappies over 35 to 40 feet at West Rush Lake.
